Our Story
Engineer-led
Design-Driven
Built With Integrity
With a background in engineering and a love for good design, I’ve spent my career helping people build smarter, quieter, more beautiful homes. I’ve managed over $200 million in projects – from large-scale commercial and industrial developments to modest family homes. And honestly, I still enjoy the simple ones just as much.
I’m known for keeping budgets on track, solving problems early, and making the process easier for everyone involved. My approach is hands-on and transparent – no salespeople, no middlemen. When you work with me, you’re working directly with the builder.
Why I Do It Differently
I started McKenzie Design Build to do things the right way: with honesty, accountability, and the mindset of an engineer. I use the same trusted subcontractors and finish levels you’d find in high-end estates, but I manage projects more efficiently – without the layers of overhead.
Whether it’s a $1M home or a $4M estate, every client gets the same personal attention, the same honest guidance, and the same goal: to build something great, together.

My Background
Education:

B.S. in Engineering
That combination lets me balance structure and creativity – designing homes that perform as beautifully as they look.

Meet David
“I’ve always believed that building a home should be more than just a transaction – it should be a collaboration. I work with people who care about quality, who want to understand the process, and who appreciate straight answers. I don’t build dozens of homes a year – and that’s by design. I’d rather focus on a few great projects and do them right.
When I’m not on a job site, you’ll probably find me out riding my bike, reading something dense for fun, or trying to beat my son in a game I swore I was getting better at.”
